Four Corners Trip, January 1999

These are pictures of a trip we took to the 4 Corners area of NM, AZ and Colorado. It was an overcast day in January and a bit windy, but turned out to be a great day.  We first drove past Shiprock, NM on our way to the 4 Corners monument.  The monument is located on the Navajo reservation which sprawls across NM, AZ, UT, and CO.  From there we drove on to Cortez, CO where Mesa Verde National Park is.  Here you will see Native American cliff dwellings.  The Park Service guide says the population numbered about 800 residents in its heyday and they grew crops on top of the Mesa.  If you are ever in the 4 Corners area, this is a must see!
