Detachment 16, 373 Training Squadron

 

Master Sergeant John P. Hudgins is a Field Training Detachment Chief assigned to Detachment 16, Kirtland AFB, NM. He is 37 years old.

MSgt Hudgins was born in Rome, Georgia on 22 October 1963. He attended Cedar Bluff High School, Cedar Bluff, Alabama, graduating as an honor graduate (third in his class) in May 1982.

After graduating from high school, MSgt Hudgins joined the Air Force in July 1982. Upon completion of Basic Training, he attended technical school at Chanute Air Force Base, Illinois. Following this, he was permanently assigned to Holloman AFB, New Mexico in March 1983 as an aircraft fuel systems specialist. There he maintained F-15A’s and B’s. After six years he was assigned to RAF Upper Heyford, United Kingdom, in May of 1989. While there, he repaired F 111E’s and EF-111A’s. He participated in both Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was promoted to Technical Sgt at RAF Upper Heyford in March of 1993. In June 1993, MSgt Hudgins arrived at Little Rock Air Force Base and was assigned to the 314 Maintenance Squadron’s Fuel Shop. In September 1993, he was assigned to duty in Det 310 as a Field Training Instructor. While there he served as a flight chief and for the last year was the superintendent. He was promoted to Master Sergeant in March of 1998. In April of 1998 he PCSd to Kirtland AFB, NM to assume his current position as Detachment Chief of Det 16, 373 TRS.

He has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal three times.

MSgt Hudgins has participated in all levels of PME available to him, including NCO Prepatory, NCO Leadership School and the NCO Academy. He was an honor graduate at each level of residence PME. He has completed the Senior NCO Academy by correspondence.

MSgt Hudgins holds two associates degrees from the Community College of the Air Force. He is certified as an Occupational Instructor. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix. He is currently pursuing an MBA in e-Business, with a 3.92 GPA.

MSgt Hudgins is an avid distance runner. He competes in many local road races and has completed 5 marathons (26.2 miles). He consistently scores in the high 50’s and lower 60’s on the ergometry test. MSgt Hudgins is an ordained deacon. He has taught Bible classes for many years and is currently teaching Single Adults at Hoffmantown Church in Albuquerque.

He is married to the former Patti Hahn of Phoenix, New York. They have 3 boys, ages 14, 12, and 10 and two daughters, ages 5 and 2.
