Pecos River Fishing Trip Please click on any picture to see it in full size! In September of this year (1999) we went on our first fishing trip for trout. Growing up in Northern Georgia/Alabama, most of my time was spent catching Bass, Crappie, Bream, and Catfish. I had read about Trout in Field and Stream but had never lived anywhere that had them. After our August camping trip, we were determined to get back up to the Pecos River in Northern New Mexico and give trout fishing a try. Grant was the first one to land a trout. He was using a Zebco 33 with Power Bait. We hadn't been at the spot for more than 10 minutes when he landed this first one.
Not to be outdone, Zachary had caught a trout about 5 minutes later. He had saved his grass cutting money and bought a fly rod and flies. He is here fishing in this picture with his friend, Jesse Bradford. This is Stefan Ford. Up until the beginning of September he lived just up the street from us. His parents were moving into their new house so he tagged along with us. This was his very first fishing trip. He caught this one about 5 minutes into our adventure. He went on to catch about 5 more.
This is our friend Dwayne Bradford. He and I worked together in the FTD at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas. He has since been cross trained into a Personnel Specialist and followed us to Kirtland AFB, NM in September of 1998. This was his first time out for trout also. He is Jesse Bradford's dad. Little Feather catchum no fish! You can learn more about trout fishing on the Pecos River at Phil's Phly Phishing Page |
